New York Fashion Week: Bobbi Brown Backstage
New York Fashion Week’s (NYFW) Fall 2019 runways treated us to bold bedazzling, glitter everything, and shiny shadows galore. But when it comes to looks we’re itching to snatch right off the runway, it’s all about subtlety.
We went backstage with lead makeup artist, Jodie Boland, to master the art of the perfect Parisian chic combo. So keep reading to find out how to achieve a flawless, dewy base and this season’s best graphic liner look.
Prep And Prime
Getting that fresh, dewy radiance starts with some serious skincare. To achieve this, models were prepped with Bobbi Brown’s Hydrating Eye Cream, to ensure every inch of skin was smooth, moisturized and primed for base application.
Artists then went in with the Vitamin Enriched Face Base to achieve a soft, supple complexion, and smoother makeup application for that flawless face! This oil-free formula dries down matte, making this perfect for staving off any sheen in hot or humid weather.
All About That Base
Flawless and natural looking skin calls for a light hand, and a buildable foundation. Backstage, artists mixed Bobbi Brown’s Skin Long Wear Weightless Foundation with the Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm to get the perfect buildable formula with a dewy finish for that healthy natural glow.
For the final touch-up, artists went in with the Instant Full Cover Concealer. This is a high coverage concealer which helps brighten the under eye area as well as smooth out fine lines instantly.
The Graphic Liner
Jodie Bolan’s take on a graphic liner look is unmistakably modern and perfectly subtle. Working with Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink, Jodie created short triangular wings that extended directly towards the end of the brow, following the natural curve of your lower lashline. She suggests using a gel liner so that you can easily build the shape of your wing, without having the ink dry mid-application.
Keeping the emphasis on the eyes, blush and contouring were kept light, with just a hint of a flush across models’ cheeks. Lips were also kept nude, with just a light coat of Bobbi Brown’s Crushed Liquid Lip in the shade Hippie Shake–a great universal nude. The soft, sheer lip colour is the perfect finish to this look, amping up the air of natural, healthy radiance.
There’s something to be said about a perfectly done modern classic. And while we’re all about getting on to the next big beauty thing, there’s nothing like a fresh face of flawless skin.
