4 Lifestyle Stores In Singapore For Unique Home Decor Items
Over the weekend, the DC team and I headed down to the Tan Boon Liat Block Party to check out the various homeware and lifestyle stores located in an old industrial building in Outram. From rustic Scandinavian furniture to eye-catching table accessories, there was something for every kind of home interior lover in this 14-storey furniture haven. We know you’ll be spoiled for choice, so we rounded up 4 shops you just can’t miss that’ll add an instant dose of style to your home!
Arete Culture showcases maximalism at its best. From the extensive displays of statement table accessories to the luxurious soft furnishings that are strategically strewn around the shop, it’s hard to leave this showroom without taking something home for yourself.
Apart from selling these decor pieces, Arete Culture also provides award-winning interior styling services and has done over 650 home makeovers in the region. Caroline Chine Geyler, the owner of Arete Culture, works with her team to help you transform your home into an elegant and functional space.
You can expect the makeover process to take no more than two days. If you’re looking to beautify your living space with a single item, or even give your home a whole new look for the new year, this is definitely your one-stop retail solution!
Grey And Sanders
If you are looking for a place to get some gorgeous Scandinavian furniture, Grey and Sanders is definitely the shop for you! One of the main draws had to be the American Black Walnut Woods that were displayed all around the shop. Sourced from the Eastern Coast of the United States, most of these wooden slabs are also bookmarked, meaning that its left and right sides are symmetrical which adds some style to its minimalistic aesthetic.
What’s also unique about shopping at Grey and Sanders is that you get to choose the exact piece of wood to bring home and can even customise it to your desired dimension, so every purchase becomes more personal and exclusive.
Grey and Sanders also takes a rustic approach on a contemporary design with their sofas. Made out of high-grade natural leather, these sofas are very minimalistic and can work easily with many styles of interior. Overall, if you are looking to add a key piece of furniture to complement the rest of your home, do check them out!
Plain Vanilla Home
For the lovers of the botanical aesthetic, a trip to Plain Vanilla Home would be pure bliss. Sharing the space with their sister brand Wonderland Botanicals, this kinfolk-inspired space has everything you need to add that subtle touch of nature to your home. The wooden and marble furnishings complement the leaves and foliage in the shop perfectly, creating a simplistic and seamless design that you can easily replicate at home.
The potted plants available are specifically cultivated in a special soil-mix, making them suitable for indoor growth so you won’t have to worry about the lack of sunlight. And because no holiday home is complete without a Christmas wreath, Plain Vanilla Home will also be selling an assortment of festive wreaths this holiday season which you can pre-order at their store now!
Ipse Ipsa Ipsum
Ipse Ipsa Ipsum, which translates to himself, herself and itself is founded on the core philosophy of ‘Live the Ordinary Extraordinarily’ and is best known for selling that special eclectic piece that people look for to spiff up their homes. Be it decor or a functional homeware piece, everything is highly individualised and made with a personality — you truly either go big or you go home.
After speaking to Sam, the owner of the quirky yet classy store, he mentioned that he wants to operate his store in a way that would liberate the market from luxury materials, making it more affordable for everyone.
With that, Ipse Ipsa Ipsum has implemented a system whereby every furniture piece is fully customisable. From the selection of material down to the shape of your table’s corners, everything can be personalised without additional costs incurred. So if you’re looking for a piece of furniture with unique dimensions or are simply finding that one creative decor piece to add a little character to your living space, this is the store for you!
