Watch Hunger Stop with Michael Kors

Watch Hunger Stop with Michael Kors

According to the United Nation World Food Programme (WFP) in 2017, for every seven people, one would go hungry. In the same year, 815 million people around the world were unable to get enough food to live a normal and healthy life.

Michael Kors has been a passionate partner in the fight against world hunger and for the past 5 years, the brand has worked with WFP on the annual Watch Hunger Stop, Michael Kors’ vital campaign that kickstarts every year on 16 October, a day we also know as World Food Day.

For its fifth year, Michael Kors will again be working with WFP, on this cause, and all funds raised will support WFP’s school meal programmes! We love that Michael Kors is creating wearable fashion with a good cause for The Watch Hunger Stop Campaign.

A Colourful Campaign

Eli Sudbrack

This year, the brand has partnered with multi-media artist, Eli Sudbrack, to create a limited edition t-shirt. “When I was invited to this project, I was so happy to finally do something where I could reach out and help people’s lives in a very concrete way,” says Eli. The design is a reflection of Eli’s colourful and bold style as an artist, who believes that every artist should do more of this work, especially in the world we live in now. The cause is exceptionally special to Eli as well, as he hails from São Paulo, a country that has also faced issues with hunger and education.

The t-shirt features a zero to mirror WFP’s Zero Hunger Campaign, as well as a myriad of colours and different textures to create a gorgeously vibrant design that is both meaningful and wearable.

You can purchase a shirt either online at michaelkors.com or at Michael Kors boutiques at Mandarin Gallery, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, Vivocity and Changi Airport T4. 100 meals will be donated for every t-shirt sold, meaning 100% of the proceeds go towards helping to feed hungry children!

Partners for an Important Cause

Hailee Steinfeld, who appeared in the 2017 Michael Kors The Walk campaign, will also be lending her influence to this worthy cause. She shares the belief that all children deserve to have their basic needs met in order to fulfil their greatest potential. And of course, that we need to work together in order to end hunger for good!

Alongside Hailee, we’ll see Kate Hudson return in support of the Watch Hunger Stop campaign and WFP. The actress, author and entrepreneur who has been a long time partner to both WFP and this cause, has expressed how deeply important it is to work towards not only feeding children but to also build communities and support families in need–something the WFP is also passionate about.

Michael Kors Runway Watch

We will also see the return of the special edition runway watches which have been a part of the Watch Hunger Stop campaign since it first began in 2013. This year’s edition features a gold-tone case with a detailed world map on the turquoise dial.

It’s a unisex style that’ll make for the perfect heartfelt gift for any occasion, especially with the knowledge that what they’re wearing has helped to feed or educate a child is a gift in itself. The unisex timepiece that will also be available on the Michael Kors website and the above mentioned Michael Kors stores will see 100 meals donated to WFP with the sale of each watch.

Snap to donate

But the giving doesn’t stop there! Once you’ve purchased a Watch Hunger Stop t-shirt, snap a photo of yourself in the tee and Michael Kors will donate 100 additional meals to WFP–just don’t forget to use the hashtag #watchhungerstop.

On top of that, if you’re travelling to the US or UK, you’ll want to head to any Michael Kors store. Just by taking a snap with the special Snapchat Geofilter, Michael Kors will donate 25 meals to WFP.

Share the meal

Aside from buying a t-shirt or watch, you can also donate any amount you want with the WFP ShareTheMeal app. The app has an easy interface that lets you donate any one-off amounts you want, from as low as 50 cents, or you can also opt to donate monthly!

Afterwards, you’ll see exactly where your donation is going and who you are helping. Aside from that, you can also make a donation by taking a snap of your meal and post it to give a child a meal. To start contributing to this cause, download it here.

It’s a heartfelt and thoughtful cause which we absolutely love and believe in too. In the words of Michael Kors himself, “Hunger is a global problem but it’s also a solvable one. However much you choose to get involved, you will make a real difference in someone’s life.” Little or small, any and all contributions count, so do what you can! Hey there, I’m ‘Alyaa! Known as the loyal Swiftie by most and hopeless romantic to others — I’ve watched The Holiday way too many times to keep track. I have a deep-rooted love for baking, specifically cakes and brownies. If I’m not doing that, I’m either playing with my baby nieces and nephews, re-watching Gilmore Girls, or scouring the net for cute (and sometimes unfortunately expensive) stationery.
